Mississippi State is scheduled to make their Southeastern Conference debut at Humphrey Coliseum tonight taking on Arkansas at 6 p.m.
The Bulldogs have had success under Rick Stansbury beginning league play on their home floor posting a 10-1 record during his tenure including six straight victories. Their last home opener against the Razorbacks was a two-point win in 2006.
Arkansas leads the series 26-21 but the Bulldogs have won the past three meetings including last season's sweep. State won in Fayetteville 70-56 and also in Starkville 86-77. MSU however holds the edge in Starkville 16-5.
The Bulldogs enter tonight's game with a 13-3 record and a 1-0 start in conference play. Mississippi State downed instate rival Ole Miss 80-75 in Oxford on Saturday. They are shooting 45.9-percent from the field and 75.1 points per game. The Bulldogs top the SEC shooting 41-percent from the outside and make 9.88 3-pointers a contest. They also lead the league in nearly every major defensive category.
