Carr fulfills dream
AUBURN | Auburn (Ala.) - When Southside (Ala.) offensive lineman Tyler Carr was a youngster, he grew up rooting for Auburn and credited the Tigers as one of his inspirations for playing football.
On Sunday, the 6-foot-6, 306-pound Carr received an offer from his childhood favorite.
"Coach (J.B.) Grimes had already told me that they were looking at me hard and he was all ready to pull the trigger, but he was just waiting on Coach (Gus) Malzahn to give the okay," Carr said.
"I felt like it was going to be a good day. I just took advantage of it."
The 2015 prospect participated in Auburn's Mini-Camp where he took on Decatur (Ga.) guard Terronne Prescod in one-on-ones. Afterwards, he spoke Grimes and Malzahn.
"He told me that we are going to offer you today and we want to recruit you hard still and that we are going to stop on top of you," Carr said. "We want you here. You're an Auburn guy."
