Relationships a year's worth of work for Wharton
ORLANDO, Fla. - Athlete and original member of the class of 2014 Vic Wharton made his intentions known he would be a Vol Christmas Day 2013 and the Nashville native has been the gift that has kept giving in helping head coach Butch Jones assemble a class currently ranked second in the Rivals.com rankings.
"I feel like it has gone fast," Wharton said smiling. "I remember being the first commit and now with there being over 30 it's crazy. With me being able to help recruit and with coach Jones being a great recruiter when some wondered if he would be when he got the job I think you couldn't ask for a better class."
For Wharton, the first step to assembling the class was the easiest decision. It was his choice to be a Vol just some 18 days after Jones was introduced as the Vols head man. A decision not just made based on his love for the Vols, but aided by his two year relationship with Tennessee's new football leader.
