Kamara to Clemson
Late Wednesday evening, Clemson's coaching staff picked up its second commit of of the day.
Around mid-day 2014 running back Dalvin Cook verbally pledged to the Tigers.
Late this evening, David Kamara, a 2013 cornerback, committed to Clemson.
"I told coach (Dabo) Swinney a couple of minutes ago," Kamara told Tigerillustrated.com, after tweeting the news of his decision.
The Loganville (Ga.) Grayson standout chose Clemson over offers from Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Illinois, Tulane and Wake Forest.
"It's like a big family at Clemson," Kamara said. "They'll hold you accountable. I like the players there. They'll help make me a better person and to not give up."
This gives Clemson a pair of three-star commits from Grayson as running back Wayne Gallman committed to the Tigers in April. Kamara's best friend, 5-star defensive end Robert Nkemdiche, the nation's No. 1 recruit, remains Clemson's top uncommitted target.
He's on campus until Friday.
"I don't know yet with him," Kamara said. "We'll have to work on him."
As a junior, Kamara recorded 53 tackles, four interceptions, and two forced fumbles helping Grayson to the AAAAA state championship.
Clemson also has verbal commitments from Anderson - T.L. Hanna linebacker Ben Boulware, who was on campus Wednesday, linebacker Dorian O'Daniel of Olney, MD, tight end Jordan Leggett of Navarre, Fla., who has been on campus in each of the last two days, Orangeburg-Wilkinson defensive back Jadar Johnson, who camped in Clemson on Tuesday, and linebacker D.J. Greenlee of nearby Central. O'Daniel is the Tigers' highest-rated commit to date. Rivals.com bills O'Daniel as the No. 4 outside backer in the nation.
