The Clemson coaching staff continues to stay hot, as Thursday night it landed yet another top recruiting-get in three-star rated Demerick Chancellor of Miami, Fla. - Edison.
Chancellor, in an in-home visit with Clemson linebackers coach and recruiter David Blackwell, ended his recruiting, spurning offers from Tennessee, Auburn, Florida, Syracuse, N.C. State, Pittsburgh, North Carolina, West Virginia and Rutgers.
"I think that Clemson gives me the best of a lot of worlds. I can go up there and play early for them. They need some help at wide receiver, they're losing a cornerback, and they have some opportunities at running back," said Chancellor Thursday night. "Coach Blackwell has told me all along that they would have a spot available for me no matter what. He told me that they were high on me from the get-go because they loved my versatility and speed. I'm a playmaker. That's what I bring to the table most of all, and I think they saw that in me."
Chancellor has already taken official visits to Rutgers and Syracuse. He had previously scheduled a trip to Tennessee for December 17th, though that visit may now be off.
"I will probably not visit Tennessee. I'll think about it and talk with them tomorrow, probably. I'm firm to Clemson, though. I've got my mind made up, and I know that I'm going to sign with them on signing day. You can put my name down with the other signees (commitments) they've got," offered Chancellor. "I'm supposed to go up there on January 14th. They're having their big banquet that weekend, and it's when they're having most of their recruits in. It should give me a chance to meet some of my future teammates. I already know a few players. I know Justin Miller, David Dunham and Duane Coleman. I've talked to them before."
Chancellor projects to qualify academically.
