Clemson has swooped in to cap its signing class with an in-state guard who was a hot commodity down the early signing period stretch.

Columbia (S.C.) Lower Richland combo guard Clyde Trapp Jr. announced Wednesday afternoon that he is signing with the Tigers.

Trapp (6-4, 196) picked Clemson over South Carolina, Georgia Tech and Charlotte.

As a junior, he averaged 13 points, 6.5 rebounds and 2.6 steals.

His stock escalated in late July as potential suitors grew impressed with his athleticism and believed his development belied intriguing upside. He was coached in AAU by former Clemson point guard Ed Scott.

Trapp becomes the fourth member of Clemson’s recruiting class, joining four-star guard A.J. Oliver and forwards Aamir Simms and Malik William.
