ADAIRSVILLE, Ga. –- In a few hours, one of the South's top football prospects will end his recruiting, choosing either Alabama or Clemson.
Adairsville jumbo-athlete Vic Beasley will be surrounded by friends, family and teammates at his school's library on Friday at 8 a.m., where he'll reveal his college choice.
Beasley, at 6-foot-5, weighing 213 pounds, is billed by Rivals.com as the 30th-best athlete in the nation.
The high-level three-star prospect has pulled in offers from Alabama, Clemson, Auburn, and Duke, just to name a view.
His father, Victor Beasley Sr., is a former letterman at Auburn, but the SEC Tigers have never been a major factor.
Beasley favored Florida State at the tail end of the spring evaluation period, before cooling on the Seminoles and looking harder at the Crimson Tide and ultimately Clemson.
He tripped to the Capstone in early June. Within a week he was in Clemson on a visit, the final day of the Dabo Swinney Football Camp.
"It was a great day. Man I really liked it there," Beasley said of his Clemson trip. "Just seeing the facilities, it was an awesome experience for me."
The big-time athlete did not return to Alabama, but did return to Clemson last month, with his parents, and a couple of friends, one of which was Clemson verbal commit Desmond Brown of Centre (AL). Beasley also is a friend of Tiger verbal commit Demont Buice of Gadsden (AL).
"My parents love the coaches at Clemson. That was probably the best part, getting on the elevator, going up to the fourth floor and messing with the coaches," Beasley said following his July 31 visit to Clemson.
Beasley's parents have not visited Alabama's campus.
The talented athlete said last Saturday he had hoped to reveal his college choice a day later, but opted to wait until he could sit down with his school's principal to set up a news conference. The announcement had been slated for Thursday at 12:30 p.m., but was pushed back to Friday.
"With Alabama, the coaches are great there," Beasley said of the Tide on Sunday. "There's a great game day atmosphere there and the fans love you. I feel like it's a place I can fit in."
The top 35 Georgia prospect had similar things to say about the Tigers.
"It's a great place, too. I've visited up there a few times," he said. "It's a great place to be. When I went up there (last time), it just felt like home. Coach Swinney seems like a humble man, and the players love to play for him."
Beasley, who carries a stellar 3.51 GPA, caught 15 passes for over 200 yards last season. On defense he registered 57 tackles, two forced fumbles and an interception.
He could play tight end or he could work on defense on the next level.
Clemson's recruiter of record here is offensive coordinator Billy Napier. Napier's father, Bill Napier, is Adairsville's offensive coordinator.
Beasley's Alabama recruiter of record is special teams coordinator Bobby Williams.
