Greenville offensive lineman Corey Lambert has committed to Clemson (6-7, 310, 5.0). Lambert gave his commitment to Clemson linebackers coach and recruiter David Blackwell Sunday evening around 6:40 PM. Rivals.com ranks the blue-chipper as the nation's No. 12 offensive tackle prospect.
"Clemson was it for me. It was the best place for me, and they had everything. The program is special, it's a special place with special people, and they've wanted me badly for a long time, and I've wanted them. My relationship with Coach Blackwell was a big factor, obviously. When I talked to him on his cell phone awhile ago he was at Tommy Bowden's house. Right now I'm just so excited to be a Clemson Tiger," said Lambert Sunday evening just minutes after he made his verbal commitment.
The four-star rated prospect gives Clemson its fourth offensive lineman commitment of the season, meaning just one more is likely to be taken before the coaching staff calls it quits at the position.
Lambert, who's also ranked as the state's No. 3 prospect by Tigerillustrated.com, chose Clemson over offers from Florida State, South Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama, North Carolina and N.C. State.
He becomes Clemson's 12th verbal commitment of the 2004 signing class. He will visit Clemson on January 9th and may or may not take an official trip to South Carolina the following weekend.
