Atlanta (Ga.) Westlake’s A.J. Terrell is the nation’s No. 1-ranked cornerback nationally by Rivals.com as well as the top target on Clemson’s recruiting board.
But Terrell admitted his performance in the team doughnut eating contest at the Tigers’ “All-In Cookout” Friday night fell way short of five-star stature.
"I tried, I tried, I tried,” Terrell said with a laugh. “I ate them all and passed off to the next person, but it wasn’t in great time. Somebody else had already won. Yeah, I am not good at that.”
Terrell (6-2, 175), ranked as the country’s No. 8 overall prospect, possesses the size, speed and agility combination to be a high-end big cornerback, though – making him among the southeast’s most coveted recruits.
Clemson has pushed hard since his stock escalated in the spring and finally attracted him for a weekend visit last month.
He and his parents returned this time around for the Tigers’ major annual social, and he brought his little brother as well.
