Whiteside commits to South Carolina

Greenville wide receiver Noah Whiteside (5-11, 170, 4.4) is one of the state's top ten prospects and has been since the end of the May evaluation period. The three-star prospect was down to Clemson and South Carolina until later this afternoon when he finally gave Head Coach Lou Holtz and the Gamecocks a verbal commitment, adding to what is already a very good class of receivers for the Garnet & Black.
Whiteside met with Holtz and Gamecock assistant Todd Fitch this afternoon for nearly an hour and a half and at the conclusion of that meeting he finally reinforced his commitment, a pledge he had been unsure of since the latter days of December.

This past season the blue-chip athlete had a tremendous campaign, hauling in 86 catches for 1,793 yards and 20 touchdowns.
He spurned offers from nearly a dozen schools, including Clemson where he was recruited by wide receivers coach Rick Stockstill.
Rivals rates him as the nation's 38th wide receiver prospect.
