Eleven months ago, Clemson approved a $550,000 raise for defensive coordinator Wes Goodwin to $1.4 million annually while adding a year to a contract that now expires Jan. 31, 2027. So the school is on the hook for two more seasons, a figure that would be offset if Goodwin found another job.

And as the New Year draws closer and as Dabo Swinney continues to deliberate on the restructuring of his defensive staff with no announcement yet, we believe the Clemson head coach has lost the argument on the three-year Goodwin experiment.
