"He's committed. He's going to Clemson. Clemson, coach (Tommy) Bowden and coach (David) Blackwell are getting two quality kids in Chris and Demerick," said Edison head coach Corey Bell Wednesday afternoon. "Coach Blackwell did such a great job of recruiting them. He was persistent and he stayed with them the whole way. He was honest, and showed such a high level of interest in them. Chris is one of the top cover-corners in the country, and he's one of the best I've ever coached. He will probably play on Sundays one day."
Demerick, who committed to Clemson in December, is a 6-foot-1, 184-pound athlete who could play running back or wide receiver.
The big-time athlete, who has entertained offers from Auburn, Tennessee, Miami, North Carolina, N.C. State, Boston College, Pittsburgh, and Syracuse, ran a 4.38/40 at the Miami, Fla. - Nike Camp last spring. Chris also attended the camp, and ran a 4.5/40.
The athletic corner has received more than a dozen offers, including full rides from Florida State, his long-time favorite, as well as Florida, Tennessee, Auburn, Oklahoma State, N.C. State and Rutgers.
Both prospects made their official visits to Clemson last weekend, January 14-16th.
Bell said Wednesday he does not expect Demerick to take a visit to Miami this weekend. The three-star rated prospect had contemplated taking a visit to Coral Gables, but is now firm with Clemson.
Friday evening Blackwell, Bowden and running backs coach Burton Burns are scheduled to do a final in-home visit with the Chancellor brothers.
