Clemson in good shape with Spring Valley star

Tigerillustrated.com rates Columbia defensive end Anthony Davis as the state’s No. 18 prospect, overall, regardless of position. Davis, who stands in at 6-foot-5, 230 pounds, has offers from Auburn, Clemson, North Carolina, Kentucky, Memphis, Duke, Vanderbilt and Wake Forest. Sunday night the Spring Valley star talked about his upcoming official visits, one of which will be to Clemson on January 9th. Three highlight video clips of Davis are also included in this update.

“I’ve got official visits set up now with Clemson (Jan. 9th), Wake Forest (Dec. 5th) and Vanderbilt (Dec. 12th). I’m thinking about lining up a couple more, but I haven’t set that up just yet. I may visit Duke,” said Davis.
Oddly, when asked to comment on the firing of Duke head coach Carl Franks, Davis was at a loss for words.
“What change? I had no idea they made a change. That’s news to me. I didn’t know he had been fired.”
On Sunday, following Duke’s 42-14 home loss to Wake Forest, Franks was released from his coaching duties.
This season Davis has made unofficial visits to Clemson (Georgia game), South Carolina (LSU, KY and UVA games) and Wake Forest (ECU game).
On the gridiron he has registered nearly 40 tackles, two sacks and two fumble recoveries.
“I’m around 6-foot-6 now, and I weigh about 220 pounds since the season has started. I ran a 4.7/40 back in the spring, so that’s the last time I think I was timed in the 40-yard dash.”
Davis says he’s getting calls regularly from Clemson, Memphis (offered two weeks ago), North Carolina, Maryland, Duke, Vandebilt and Wake Forest.
When asked about a top three, and whether or not the three schools with official visits could be his shortlist, Davis said, “You could say that. You could say those are my top three schools right now.”
