First career TDs
Adam Humphries recorded his first career touchdown reception with 7:19 remaining in the first quarter on Saturday against Maryland. The 13-yard reception gave the Tigers an early 7-0 lead en route to a 45-10 win.
"It was awesome," Humphries said. "It happened so fast that I can't really describe it. I'm just thankful Tajh put the ball out there for me. And my roommate (Stanton Seckinger) got his first touchdown too."
Humphries' roommate closed the scoring with a 4-yard touchdown grab in the fourth quarter.
"It's very hard to describe," Seckinger said. "It happened so fast. I just turned around and saw the ball and it was six points for the Tigers."
35 points in the first half ... again
Clemson scored 35 first-half points for the third consecutive week, marking the only time in school history a team has accomplished that feat.
"We're a more mature team this year than we were last year," said Dalton Freeman. "But this team has a totally different mindset and we don't take anything for granted."
Clemson finishes the regular season with two home games and will bring a school record 12-game winning streak into the NC State game.
"We're excited and we're blessed to have these two games at home," added Freeman. "I'll always be very proud of that record and I'm glad I've been able to be a part of it."
Crawford reaches end zone
Corey Crawford and the Clemson defense put the clamps down on Maryland's offense Saturday afternoon, holding the Terrapins to season-low 180 total yards and forcing three turnovers.
In the first quarter Crawford picked up a Shawn Petty fumble and rumbled 16 yards for the second Tiger score of the game.
"It's an indescribable feeling right now," Crawford said. "I'm just so happy right now. I just knew I had to get it and run as fast as I could."
The fumble return came only 12 seconds after Clemson's first touchdown, marking the least amount of time elapsed between scores since the 2003 Duke game when Derrick Hamilton scored twice within a 14-second span.
