When Dave Doeren arrived at N.C. State seven years ago, he talked about building a fence around the state in reference to securing North Carolina’s best recruits.

During his third season, the broadcast crew panned to four-star receiver Diondre Overton during the Wolfpack’s defeat to Clemson and referenced Doeren’s statement.

Little did they recognize that Overton was essentially in Raleigh to watch Clemson, his future home.

As Clemson prepares to travel for its annual Atlantic Division contest Saturday at N.C. State, we’d like to offer a word of advice to the prospective new coaches who take jobs at Florida State, USC and elsewhere in the Power Five ranks the coming months:
