Clemson dispensed an offer Monday to a prospect with which it already has a family in.
Bradenton (Fla.) Braden River defensive end Taylor Upshaw learned of his offer before defensive coordinator Brent Venables and area recruiter Tony Elliott stopped by his school.
“Coach Venables let me know over the phone because they’re not allowed to talk to me in person,” Upshaw said. “But he let me know I had a scholarship to Clemson. That was amazing for me and for my family.”
Upshaw (6-5, 245) is the son of former NFL defensive end Regan Upshaw Sr., a 1996 first-round pick of the Tampa Bay Bucs.
His brother, Regan Jr., is a walk-on linebacker at Clemson, having earned that preferred invite before he played his first down of high school football as a senior.
