It's one thing to put together back-to-back years of sensational success with some of the finest offensive weapons in college football. But the Tigers earned a great deal of credibility by maintaining the playoff level of football in 2017 after the loss of so many vital weapons.

The faces change, but the wins keep coming. People take notice of that, and it's the reason Clemson is a popular pick in the 2018 top four even after getting slapped around by Alabama.

A lot of variables as we sit here in January, more than seven months from the start of the season. But what we do know is that Clemson appears head and shoulders above everyone in the ACC.

The Tigers demonstrated that last year, not just outplaying some of the ACC's better teams in difficult environments (Louisville, Blacksburg, Raleigh) but outclassing them too.
