Clemson receivers coach Dabo Swinney has picked up a huge commitment, landing the Tigers No. 1 target at quarterback in Mountain Brook, Ala. gunslinger Tribble Reese (6-3, 190, 4.7). Reese, who had in-home visits this past week from Notre Dame and Ole Miss, said yes to Swinney and Tommy Bowden Sunday afternoon around 1:30 PM. " I just got off the phone with Coach Swinney and…
I can tell you that he yells pretty loud. He said this gave him an early Christmas present," said Reese.
"All week I had been thinking about it, and I knew I was close. I prayed about it and it just came to me that this is what I needed to go ahead and do. I'm a Clemson Tiger now, all the way. I'm even going to start working for them. I told Coach Swinney to go ahead and give me the names and phone numbers of several of their wide receivers targets so that I could start calling them and recruiting them for Clemson. I want to make sure we have a great recruiting class."
This season Reese tore it up on the gridiron, totaling over 3000 yards of offense while throwing for 24 touchdowns. He chose Clemson over offers from N.C. State, Notre Dame, Baylor, Wake Forest and Mississippi State. LSU and Ole Miss were closing in, also before everything ended on Sunday. "Ole Miss came by and I know they were coming on hard. Nick Saban was supposed to come in for a visit, but I just wanted to go ahead and end it. I may or may not take some other visits. I'll talk that over with my parents. But I'm firm to Clemson. I'm a Tiger. I can tell you that," said Reese.
The Mountain Brook blue-chipper was Clemson's No. 1 target at quarterback, even ahead of John Parker Wilson from Hoover, Ala., ahead of Jordan Steffy
of Leola, Pa. and ahead of Sumter's William Richardson.
Reese's commitment ends Clemson's recruitment at the quarterback position, giving Mike O'Cain two verbal pledges from quarterbacks. Alpharetta, Ga. quarterback Cullen Harper (6-3, 200, 4.8) committed over the summer.
Reese will qualify, as he carries a 3.8 GPA with a 1320 on his last SAT attempt.
