Thompson makes decision

Sumter offensive lineman James Thompson (6-5, 310, 5.2) has made a decision. The state's No. 5 prospect overall, regardless of position, has committed to South Carolina over offers from Clemson, Florida State, North Carolina, Maryland and N.C. State.
"I'm going to South Carolina. I'll sign on Wednesday, but I can tell you that I'm going to South Carolina. I've made my decision," said Thompson Monday evening. "I just felt comfortable there and it was the best situation for me. They've got an excellent Business School, and they've got a good environment for student athletes."

Thompson made an official visit to Clemson this weekend where he was hosted by rising sophomore Chansi Stuckey.
The Shrine Bowl star saw his stock soar last fall, what ultimately afforded him to be recognized as arguably the state's top offensive lineman prospect.
The three-star rated lineman was Clemson's last remaining target at his position, though Darlington offensive tackle Nygel Pearson (6-6, 280, 5.4) is still a possibility as a gray-shirt. Pearson will make his decision known Wednesday.
