So on Monday, a federal judge granted preliminary approval to the terms of the antitrust settlement that eliminates restrictions on schools directly paying players. A final hearing to approve the deal is scheduled for April.
If all goes according to plan, schools next year will be allowed to pay players to a certain cap limit -- reportedly expected to start at just above $20 million per school.
