CLEMSON -- In recruiting, the achievement of a rare discovery brings conflicting emotions.

Considerable excitement in knowing you're the first one to uncover it.

And considerable angst in knowing it's only a matter of time before the stampede comes.

This was the feeling Chad Morris, in his first few months on the job at Clemson, experienced after seeing Deshaun Watson's film for the first time. An offer came soon thereafter, and Morris later experienced many moments wondering if all the effort was going to be worth it.

It's hard not to think back to the Watson story as we consider Clemson's recruitment of Zion Williamson.

When Watson committed to Clemson in February of 2012, and then followed through on that pledge by signing with the Tigers in the 2014 class, the key element was Clemson offering him first.

If Williamson does what many anticipate and commits to Clemson on Saturday night, the foundation for the biggest recruiting splash in school history will be Brad Brownell's staff presenting him with his first high-major offer long before everyone else took notice.
