Venables commits to Clemson

Clemson picked up its third verbal commitment from a junior Sunday when Central (S.C.) D.W. Daniel linebacker Jake Venables ended his recruiting to pick the Tigers, where his father, Brent, is in his fifth year as the program's defensive coordinator.

Venables announced his decision via his twitter account.

Venables is rated a three-star prospect by Rivals.com, 16th nationally overall among outside linebacker prospects and seventh overall regardless of position in the state of South Carolina for the class of 2018.

The Daniel defender is joined on the Tigers' 2018 commitment list by five-star quarterback Trevor Lawrence of Cartersville (Ga.), the nation's No. 1-rated junior prospect overall regardless of position and four-star linebacker Mike Jones Jr. of Bradenton (Fla.) IMG.
