We annually underline the point that Clemson's staff focuses primarily on team preparation in August because there just isn’t much recruiting to do usually.

The Tigers attempt to guide many courtships to a crescendo by summer’s end, reserving some leeway in the final months for priority prospects with the leverage to carry their recruitment to the end, or targets who might surface later.

It’s just not all that frequent for there to be substantial activity in September; prospects tend to want to decide before their senior season, or after.

But occasionally there are exceptions to the rule.
